Enroll. Enlist. Employ.
During a recent visit to the new school site, our CTE team had the incredible opportunity to see one of our own 2024 welding program completers that chose employment! 🔥⚙️
Now thriving in a role with METCOM, he’s already putting his skills to work on a real-world project—helping to build the very site that will shape future WCS generations. It’s inspiring to see him excel and give back to our community so soon after graduation.
We’re so proud of this homegrown talent and the success of our welding program. 💪✨ #WeldingSuccess #CTE

📜 A Step Back in Time at Somerset Place! 📜
Today, our students had a unique opportunity to explore the history of Somerset Place. Walking from the domestic quarters to the grand plantation house, they learned about the stark contrasts in daily life—from the lives of enslaved people who endured harsh conditions, such as walking 7 miles daily to the fields, to the luxurious lifestyle of the Collins family who owned the estate.
After the tour, students participated in hands-on activities that brought history to life. They churned butter in mason jars, simulating tasks done in the dairy house, and crafted ropes using a traditional rope-making device—skills that enslaved people mastered for daily tasks on the plantation.
This experience blended the rich history of Somerset Place with interactive, scientific lessons, leaving students with a greater understanding of our past.

Welding is one of our newest pathways, and it’s thriving! Check out these images of our welding cohort as they get their hands-on experience, mastering skills, and perfecting their craft!
Welding is an in-demand trade that opens doors to high-paying careers across various industries. In Eastern North Carolina, welders earn an average salary of around $45,000 to $55,000 annually, with opportunities for even higher earnings as skills and experience grow. This pathway is setting our students up for success in a rewarding field that continues to expand! #CTE #welding #Entertheworkforce

Today, some of our Adobe students had an exciting tour of the WITN studios! This trip directly aligned with the skills they’re learning in the Adobe classroom.
Our students were fascinated by:
• Local and syndicated programming
• Adobe Illustrator in action
• The behind-the-scenes of WITN’s streaming services
• The tower in Grifton, NC, and its impressive height
• Newscasting, programming, and coding
• Advertising
They even saw how the meteorologist uses technology to enhance weather reports, and learned that Adobe Illustrator is a daily tool for the team! #CTE #Adobe
