Good Evening Students and Parents,

We have a hectic week, so here is your weekly update.

Monday at 6:00 pm in Creswell is our Community Meeting. Thanks to a generous donor, we have 15 Food Lion gift cards we will give out at the end of the meeting. Everyone that enters will receive a raffle ticket for this drawing. I request that students, parents, and community members attend this important event.

Also, students that still need their community service hours can get them on Monday. After school on Monday will be our school clean-up and organization day. All volunteers will also have a hot dog dinner before the Community Meeting. Parents, please join us Monday at 6:00 pm.

Also, Monday is a teacher workday for BCCC. There will not be any college classes on Monday. Students with a blended schedule of high school and college classes must still attend school on Monday.

Wednesday at 8:00 am, please tune in to Magic 95.9, where the Early College will feature two outstanding students on the show. This will be a fun 30 minutes (probably longer if Bill Benjamin lets me talk), so tune in and support our students.

Also, on Wednesday, Juniors who received a calendar invitation from me have a NC Governor's School pre-application meeting at 2:30 pm.  This meeting will be at the Central Office on 802 Washington Street in Plymouth, NC.  Mrs. Julie Simpson will lead this meeting, so ensure you are on time and prepared to ask questions about this program and the application procedures.

The Early College will host a FAFSA help night for students with their parents on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. This will be held at the Early College in Creswell, NC and refreshments will be available. We will have assistance from the financial aid department at BCCC to guide you through this process. As a parent, I can tell you that the first application is complex, but it gets much easier in the following years. So take advantage of this work session to get professional assistance.

Thursday is your State Fair day. We will send out the final details about this trip on Monday afternoon

Saturday is our first ACT trip of the year. It costs over $100 per person to make this trip happen, so make sure you follow through on your part by being prepared and on time! Students scheduled to attend this trip will receive an email confirmation from me tonight at 7:30 pm in their WCS school email. If you did not get an email, please reach out to Mrs.  Rasonabe on Monday. Your confirmation email will contain pick-up times and scheduled return times. Please make sure you are prompt on Saturday morning.

Juniors, The Pirate Promise application window has opened, and it will only be available for a few weeks. You need to complete this application now and do not delay. You must have a 2.5 GPA to apply. Juniors, please check your email from me for more details.

And now for our Seniors. The FAFSA has opened, and you can now begin. At this point in the application, you should have completed your RDS, sent your confirmation to Ms. Rasonabe, and completed your common college application. Free college application week starts tomorrow! This is the only time you can apply to 100 North Carolina Colleges and Universities for free! Think about the offers you could receive if you have a well-written college application with excellent essays. Don't forget to use tutor.com to provide content feedback and proofread your essays. The sooner you begin, the sooner those acceptance letters will come in. Also, not every NC school is in this program. If there is a particular school that you have your heart set on, then you should consider an early decision application. You can only do this for one school; if accepted, it is a binding agreement between you and that school. If you choose this route, please read all the fine print details before submitting this application.
